I first heard about @shitmydadsays on Tumblr. Someone had posted a screenshot of one of his tweets. It seems to me that it spread that way, via blogs, rather than on the site itself. People saw that, were intrigued, and started following him. More than likely, followers were unaware of the whole Favrd / Favstar phenomena. Well, if that is how it’s done, why not take screenshots of people we follow and get them attention that way? I will start spamming Tumblr with the funniest tweets I read in hopes that a more deserving Twitizen gets exposure. Not saying that @shitmydadsays isn’t deserving. Kudos for him for getting success. But I think that people we all follow are more genuine, and don’t need a gimmick to be funny. I’m sure they can all create a persona and do well with it (@meetingboy is a prime example).
